How to View and Edit XMP Metadata in Files

Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) is a type of metadata that can be embedded is various types of image, video, audio, and document files. XMP data can contain a large number of various metadata elements, such as title, description, creator, keywords, and date. As its name implies, it can be extended to include any number arbitrary metadata elements.

It's possible to edit XMP metadata with an appropriate software that has been designed for this purpose. Since different file formats are built internally in a different manner, a software must be designed specifically for editing XMP data in particular file types.

MetadataTouch™ is a multi-format metadata editor for Windows®, that, among its capabilities, can edit XMP metadata in ten file formats: JPEG, JPEG 2000, PNG, AVI, MP3, MP4, F4V, WAVE, AIFF, and XMP. It can do so one file at a time, and its Professional Edition can also do so in a group of files in batch. It's an offline desktop application that has a simple & straightforward graphical user interface, (GUI) with an integral file explorer, making it ideal for easily editing metadata.
